Honorable Mention
Symphony of Sorrow
DarkCloud

Operatic moans echo and bounce back from past memories
As the violin bow softly weeps across its taut thin strings
Dead spots on my soul glow bright with the decay of disease
Sorrowful symphonies of solicitude fills my heart as grief sings

Flutes bleed high-pitched shrills, oozing into the dark night air
Dripping sad notes into my ears like perpetual falling tears
I stand-alone on the stage of life conducting my own despair
The razor sharp baton flaying in the dark as hope disappears

Cellos and harps play together, moving down my naked spine
As my lonely heart beats in rhythm with the drums of doom
Piano hammers tap wires as giant organ pipes moan and whine
As deep groans vibrate from the double bass's wooden womb

Lingering interludes of silent voids fill the empty auditorium
As my back faces the falling red velvet of the finale curtain call
Encores refused as music vanishes like flesh in a crematorium
My requiem played out in a grim grand opera's masquerade ball

Embellished darkness emanates into the bleak future as ivory black
The amphitheater falls silent, then is filled with a screaming bagpipe
A wavering vibrato starts low and builds until ornate walls start to crack
As my prelude is canalled along with the overture, my death is now ripe
